Putnam’s Constituents: It’s Our Culture, Stupid

August 22nd, 2007 · No Comments ·   ·

I’ve never seen anything like this before, but I hope to see much, much, much more of it. It’s a sign that, contrary to Lindsay Graham’s absurd rants, we are not about to be shut up.  Ever! And today,  we’re actually getting louder!

Putnam: Immigration Top Issue for Constituents | theledger.com

“It is hotter than Iraq, hotter than abortion. I have never had an issue that so overwhelmingly overshadows everything else,” the Bartow Republican said. “I would say it is ahead of every other issue by 4 to 1….”… Their most frequent complaint is dialing a business and getting “Press one for English and two for Spanish,” he said.

The almost absolute opposition to immigration has a lot to do with a cultural concern as well as other issues of border security and a feeling of fairness to those who immigrated legally.

“What I am hearing from them is that we are losing our cultural identity. Instead of being the traditional melting pot, we are becoming factions,” he said. “Now all of these things are not necessarily government’s responsibility, but there is a growing concern that there is no assimilation anymore as there has been throughout our history.”

Hallelujah!  Everybody needs to note that this is coming from a congressman who has a lifetime C+ immigration report card, so this has to be pretty straight-up.  Juxtaposed with the fact that the number GOP’s number-one race pandering whore, Mel Martinez,  is both a senator from Putnam’s state and chairman of the party, this bodes poorly for Republicans unless they quickly untether themselves from Martinez’s pro-mass-immigration pandering baggage.

My regular readers should know by now that the cultural aspects of mass-immigration have always been my primary concern and motivation for this blog.  How can leftists or the mass-immigrationists in the elitist right reconcile their so-oft-repeated contention that there is no true or unique American culture after a mostly pro-immigration congressman points out that his American citizen constituents overwhelmingly want to see Congress protect their culture.

They can’t.

There is a part of the interview available as a video at the link, but it’s not in a format I can post here.  It’s good, but it doesn’t include any of my favorite quotes…I’m still in shock that these words came from a guy who just three years ago had alligned himself with the immigration treason lobby. I guess the MSM isn’t quite ready to let us hear and see the well-reasoned words of a really pasty white Congresscritter expressing the fact that a majority of his white American constituents are communicating to him strong concerns about their legitmate cultural or ethnic interests.  In almost all American newsrooms, it’s politically incorrect for caucasians to have guilt-free desires for maintaining cultural identity or homogeneity; such privilege is solely in the domain of various minorities. Yet Putnam not only says this stuff, but he says it to the newspaper’s editors…in the newspaper’s office!

I predict that psychological counseling expenses are spiking over at the Lakeland Ledger.
