War is Peace

For the past several months I’ve been spending a lot of time reading, studying and pondering where we are headed as a nation and a culture. I’ve not been suffering so much for “writer’s block” as I have been experiencing a bit of writer’s apathy.

Every so often I go through a period in which I just don’t feel the urge to write. Perhaps I subconsciously tire of repeating myself, which sets me off in search of new understandings. Whatever the process, it’s clear to me that such times of pondering usually precede my attaining some new level of enlightenment that kicks off a new round of energized writing.

I don’t know if that is what is going to happen this time. And I do not know, should the need to write again becomes compulsion, if this blog will be the forum for my ideas.

Admittedly, this forum has always been an outlet for my more polemic side… a place to posit ideas and rants so politically incorrect that they might cause problems for me professionally were I to publish them along with my more routine writings. Of late, business has been very good to us here on the home front. God forbid I ever write something honest enough to harm my family.

Isn’t that a truly sickening thought?

What the hell will become of us if it becomes impossible to ever raise issues from a culturally traditionalist perspective, in plain language, while dispensing with the weasel words mandated by those who want to be our politically correct overlords?

I mean, Americans should never need to consult a fucking handbook to make sure they haven’t overstepped the bounds of their First Amendment rights.

So, it was well in this contemplative state of mind that I came across a brilliant post by Baron Bodissey:

Gates of Vienna: War is Peace

Selective enforcement of the rules means that there are no rules.

There are only groups that are in favor and groups that are out of favor with the oligarchs of PC.

I strongly suggest you click on the link and read the entire post. It really is brilliant.

And so, I conclude my first post of 2008. I want to wish a most happy new year to all Americans who love their nation enough to openly detest and resist those who would shackle us in festering ideological dungeons in which the insipid “right not to be offended” blocks out all truth, and light, and free air.
